Update (December 15): ParaView and VisIt are installed and available for use on Polaris.
Cooley is nearing its end of life as a visualization resource at the ALCF. The hardware is over eight years old and is experiencing failure rates commensurate with a system of that age.
After the system's maintenance contract concludes at the end of April, the nodes will not be repaired when they fail. However, even as the node count decreases, we intend on keeping Cooley as a production resource for as long as possible throughout 2023.
If applicable, we encourage you to plan on moving your workflows and codes to Polaris. ParaView is now available on Polaris, and we're working on installing VisIt. We're also working on scheduling and queueing policies to ensure visualization workloads are well-supported.
We'll continue to update you on the status of using Polaris as a visualization resource and that of Cooley throughout its end-of-life period.
