User Facilities: Unique Resources for Interdisciplinary Discovery and Innovation

The United States’ national scientific user facilities provide unique capabilities, instrumentation, and expertise annually to approximately 50,000 scientists and engineers from academia, government, and industry.

In this presentation at the AAAS Annual Meeting, Argonne Laboratory Director Eric Isaacs will provide an overview of the breadth of capabilities offered by our national scientific user facilities, explain how scientists can access these resources, describe how the unique sociology at user facilities encourages interdisciplinary research, and highlight a few recent outstanding discoveries and technological innovations that have emerged from work at the user facilities.
