The ALCF is hosting an in-person Hands-on HPC Workshop on October 29-31, 2024, at the TCS Conference Center at Argonne National Laboratory.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for hands-on time on Polaris and AI Testbeds focusing on porting applications to heterogeneous architectures (CPU + GPU), improving code performance, and exploring AI/ML applications development on ALCF systems.

Workshop participants will:

  • Work directly with ALCF staff and industry experts during dedicated hands-on sessions
  • Learn how to use available tools and frameworks to improve productivity and performance
  • Hear from researchers running on early Aurora hardware
  • Tour Argonne facilities, including Aurora

The workshop tracks will be built around HPC Tools, Programming Models, AI/ML, Workflows, Vis, etc. Please share your interests in the registration form so we can better shape the agenda to your needs.

DEADLINE to register is September 30, 2024.

For late registration, please email alcfevents@alcf.anl.gov

For attendees who wish to stay onsite, please book rooms on the Argonne Guest House website. There will be a free shuttle to and from the Guest House during the workshop. Please note that we do not cover the cost of travel or lodging.

Who is eligible?

Registrants will be reviewed for experience level and will be asked to provide both a research summary and goals for attending.

FOREIGN NATIONALS:  ELIGIBILITY
The following restrictions apply to foreign nationals:

  • Foreign nationals from countries that appear on a restricted foreign country listing in section 15 CFR 740.7 License Exceptions for Computers (namely, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria) require a very lengthy approval process for access to DOE supercomputers, which will not complete in time for the workshop. Therefore, citizens of these countries are not eligible to apply for participation.
  • Foreign nationals from countries other than those listed above will need a valid passport, visa, and supporting documents with an expiration date beyond the end of the training program. Department of Energy policy now requires a CV/resume including educational and employment history.

If you have any questions, please contact us at alcfevents@alcf.anl.gov.
