The goal of my project was to identify and facilitate opportunities for collaboration between Argonne National Laboratory's Leadership Computing Facility and industry users. I focused on fostering partnerships between computational scientists at ALCF, industry groups with HPC needs, and ANL domain scientists with expertise relevant to the users' needs. Through market research, interaction with ANL personnel and industry representatives, and analysis of the viability and benefits of potential collaborations, I have developed a set of market segments and potential ALCF users within each of these segments whose perceived research and product development goals align with ANL objectives and expertise. I also developed a methodology for identifying and categorizing prospective industry partners. This process involves exploring the market space occupied by the target users, identifying technologies in development that provide innovative or improved benefits to an end user, and developing value propositions for collaborative work based upon this research. This methodology will inform future collaborative outreach by defining the basic context and rationale for any industry partnership.
